In Sanskrit ‘Nirvan Kand' there is no reference of this place but the Bhattaraks of later age have acknowledged it as Siddha Kshetra or Nirvan Kshetra, e.g. Bhattarak Shrut Sagar in the commentary of 27 th tale of Bodh in Prakrit in describing Nirvan and Kalyanak Kshetra has mentaioned Chulachul. The poet MeghRaj in his composition “Tirth Vandana” in Gujrati has mentioned about this Kshetra like that of ‘Nirvan Khand'
‘Badva:ni: nagar suti:rth, Pashim chu:lgiri ja:ni:jo:ei
Kumbhkaran Indraji:t Siddhah va:tein bakha:ni jo:ei'
Bhattarak of Kashtasangh Nandi tatguchchh., in his Hindi mixed Gujrati composition “Sarvn Tirth Vandan” has mentioned Choolgiri as under :-
Badva:ni: barnayar ta:s sami:p mano:har
Choolgiri Indra pavitra mo:ksha padha:ryo:
Siddha Ksheitra jag ja:n bahujan bhav jal ta:ryo:
Ba:van sangh pati a:y kari bimb pratishttha: bah kari.,
Brahma Gya:n Sagar badate kito:n
Tribhuvan ma:n bistari:
The above lines furnish the information that 52 heads of monasteries got a large number of idols consecrated. The poet probably refers to the consecration of idols in 1380. |
